# Understand User and Administrator Permissions

> What account administrators can do in Calcs.com compared with standard users.

Every person in your Calcs.com organization has their own login. Each person is either a **user** or an **account administrator**.

## Users

Users do the engineering work in Calcs.com. A user can:

* create projects and run calculations
* [see other users' projects](/docs/projects/create/share-projects-colleagues) in the organization
* view the audit log for each calculation to see a history of changes by different users
* view the organization's preferred sections

## Account administrators

Account administrators can do everything a user can, and they also manage the organization. An administrator can:

* view and edit the organization's billing, including changing your plan
* add and remove users
* promote other users to administrator, or remove administrator permissions
* change organization settings, such as the default building standard, unit system and print settings
* manage the organization's preferred sections list

By default, the person who created the Calcs.com account is the administrator. They can then promote other administrators.

Options that need administrator permissions are hidden if you are not an administrator. If you can't see an option described in these docs, ask an administrator in your organization.

Administrators who only handle billing or IT, and are not working on projects, don't count toward your plan's shared license limit. See [Share Licenses Across Your Team](/docs/plans/licenses/share-licenses).
