What Calcs.com does
Calcs.com runs the calculation, shows the working, and lets you reuse the same calculation across projects. Every input, check, and reference is visible, so a reviewer can follow the logic rather than trusting a single output number. Reusability matters because repeated calculations are where transcription errors creep in. Linking a beam reaction into the column below it removes one manual step. See Linking loads and reactions between calculators. What stays with you
Several things are not, and cannot be, delegated to software:- Choosing the design approach and the governing standard.
- Deciding whether the model represents the real structure.
- Judging whether the loads, supports, and restraint conditions are appropriate.
- Accepting the result and signing or stamping the design.
Why the working is shown
Transparency is what makes a calculation checkable. You can open the full detailed steps behind any result, see How to view all detailed calculation steps. Click any field label to read the references, checks, conditions, and assumptions attached to it, see Checks, references, conditions and assumptions. If a result surprises you, that is a prompt to check the assumptions rather than to accept the number. Before you stamp
A short habit is worth building into your review:- Confirm the calculator and preset match the member you are designing.
- Read the assumptions listed in the calculation details.
- Check the load path into and out of the member.
- Sanity check the governing utilization against what you expect.
- Export the report and read it as a reviewer would.
