The Calcs.com section properties library covers three regions: Australia, the United States, and Europe. This article lists what each region includes and how the catalogs are kept current.

Australia

The Australian database covers:
  • Steel: InfraBuild and OneSteel sections
  • Timber: MGP and F-grade
  • Cold-formed steel: Stratco

United States

The United States database covers:
  • Steel: AISC, 2016 edition
  • Timber: NDS sawn lumber, 2018
  • Cold-formed steel: SFIA, 2015

Europe

Yes, the library supports Eurocode sections. The European database covers:
  • Steel to EN 10365: universal beams (UB), IPE, and HE sections including HEA, HEB, and HEM, plus hollow sections
  • Timber: EN 338 for softwood and EN 384 for hardwood

Choosing a database

The region selector controls which catalog you browse. Choose the database that matches the standard you are designing to, not the country you are sitting in. A project designed to Eurocode uses the EU database even if the office is elsewhere. If a section you expect is missing, check that the right regional database is selected before assuming it is absent.

How the data is kept current

The database is updated when manufacturers publish revised catalogs. Named edition years, such as AISC 2016 or NDS 2018, tell you which published edition the values come from. Confirm the edition against your project requirements. A project specified to a later edition of a standard may reference values that differ from the ones shown.
