Material and section data in Calcs.com is reviewed when standards are updated and when manufacturers publish new section tables. Each calculator shows a version date, so you can see which release of the data your calculation was run against.

When the data is reviewed

Two events trigger a review:
  • A design standard is updated, which can change material properties, factors, or grades.
  • A manufacturer publishes a new section table, which can add, revise, or withdraw sections.
Reviews follow those events rather than a fixed calendar.

Finding the version date

The version date is shown in each calculator. Check it when you need to record which data set a calculation used, for example on a project that will be reviewed much later.

Existing calculations do not change under you

A calculation you have already run stays on the version it was created with. Data updates do not silently alter a saved calculation, which means an issued report still matches what you exported. What this means for your practice

Read the changelog before upgrading a calculation on a live job. A change in section properties or material factors can move a utilization result, so check the governing check again after any upgrade. Where a project must be designed to a superseded standard, keep the calculation on the version that matches that standard rather than upgrading it. Record the version date in your project file so a reviewer can see which data was used. Responsibility for confirming that the data suits the project stays with the engineer. Calcs.com shows the source and the version so that check is possible, but it does not make the judgment for you.

If the data looks out of date

A section, grade, or property may not match a current standard or manufacturer table. Report it with the calculator name and the version date shown. Email support@calcs.com or use the in-app support button.
