🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Wood Shear Wall (ASD, NDS 2024) 🇺🇸: Corrected SDPWS 2021 blocking logic so the 15/32 in nominal shear substitution applies only to blocked walls. Blocked 7/16 in WSP capacity increases about 9%.
  • Spread, Wall, and Combined Footing calculators (IBC 2024 & ACI 318-19) 🇺🇸: Fixed the uplift safety factor summary to report the governing (minimum) load combination, so a non-governing combination can no longer mask an uplift failure.
  • US timber species table 🇺🇸: Corrected Douglas Fir-Larch No. 1 reference strengths for custom sections, which overstated bending by about 15%. Affected custom-section timber designs should be re-checked.
  • Point Load on Slab on Grade (ACI 318-19) 🇺🇸: Added a slab geometry diagram, clarified terminology, and updated references to ASCE 7-22. No numeric changes.
  • Cold-Formed Steel Stud / Column (AISI S100-16) 🇺🇸: Fixed a Link to Reaction crash so linked reactions correctly populate lateral, vertical, and moment components.
  • Environmental load calculators (ASCE 7-22 & NBCC 2020/2025) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Enabled API output on all 10 seismic, snow, and wind calculators to support upcoming API features.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Column Bracing (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Corrected over-conservative gusset buckling for Bolted Single Slotted Splice connections and corrected brace-to-plate weld area to use workable flat dimensions. Existing bolted bracing designs should be re-checked.
  • WF to HSS and HSS to HSS Moment Connections (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Fixed double-counting of both-sided flange-plate fillet welds and applied the AISC directional strength factor to tension welds, including round HSS. Existing flange-plate results may change.
  • WF to HSS, HSS to WF, and HSS to HSS Moment Connections (CSA S16:19) 🇨🇦: Corrected the chord stress factor to reduce compressive resistance instead of the slenderness ratio, lowering previously overstated sidewall buckling capacities.
  • HSS to HSS and HSS to WF Moment Connections (CSA S16:19) 🇨🇦: Corrected stiffened seat T-section properties and weld shear flow. Existing seated and welded tee designs should be re-checked.
  • HSS to HSS Moment Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Added a missing column face plastification check for stiffened seat (WT) connections shorter than the column width.
  • HSS to HSS Splice Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Fixed shear rupture net area to deduct only the bolt holes in the shear plane, and fixed the required tensile force per bolt to return zero when no axial tension is applied.
  • HSS to HSS Splice Connection (CSA S16:19) 🇨🇦: Corrected plate tensile rupture for single-bolt-row layouts, plate section properties, the bolt count for four-sided end plates, and inconsistent metric and imperial unit labels.
  • WF to HSS Shear Connection (CSA S16:19) 🇨🇦: Corrected the beam tensile rupture shear lag factor, fillet weld eccentricity for the Extended Configuration, single angle narrow-angle classification, and bolt group moment capacity to CSA nominal bolt shear strength.
  • WF to HSS Shear Connection (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Fixed the HSS column face plastification width ratio for tee connections to use the tee flange width. Tee connections with axial load may show higher column face capacities.
  • Concrete-Filled HSS Moment Connection (AISC 360-22 & CSA S16:19) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Corrected panel zone shear demand for single-sided beams and beam axial force, and added a gage distance check so threaded rods stay within the column workable flat.
  • HSS Truss Connection (AISC 360-22) 🇺🇸: Fixed the summary header so load combinations failing connection equilibrium correctly trigger the “Not Supported Connection” warning.
  • Steel connection diagrams (HSS to HSS Moment, HSS to WF Shear, WF to HSS Shear, Column Bracing) 🇺🇸 🇨🇦: Corrected the weld-all-around symbol on seated connections, refreshed top-view and 3D diagram assets including wide-flange column rendering, and fixed seated bearing lengths displaying as negative.

Calcs Builder

🚀 New Features

  • See exactly what goes into a widget group: When you create or extract a widget group, a new interactive editor shows a live preview of which widgets will be included, so you can adjust the selection before you confirm.
  • Widget groups keep your names: When you extract, insert, or import a widget group, your original reference IDs and symbols are kept as they are. You are only asked to add a prefix if two names clash.

Platform Improvements

🚀 New Features

  • Download standards as PDFs 🇦🇺: If you use the Standards Library with Standards Australia, you can now download a watermarked PDF of a standard directly from the Standards homepage or while reading a clause.
  • Re-run calculations through the Partner API: If you build on the Partner API, you can now read a sheet’s current inputs and results, change individual inputs, and solve the same sheet again. This makes it easy to automate repetitive design tasks, like testing a range of section sizes to find the one that works. Template schemas now also list every available output and full table column details.
  • Ask Calcs remembers your conversations: The full-page Ask Calcs view now has a history panel where you can reopen any previous conversation or start a fresh one with the New Chat button.

🛠️ Improvements & Fixes

  • Standards Library search works properly again: Search now returns results that match what you typed, result links open the right page, and the search dropdown closes when you click away.
  • Standards Library share links fixed: Links you share to a standard now open correctly instead of showing “page not found”. A new “View full standard” button in the clause sidebar takes you straight to the complete document.
  • Always know where you are: The top bar now shows breadcrumbs with your project and calculation names, so you can see at a glance which project and calculation you are working in.
  • New layout polish: If you have early access to the new layout, you will find an organisation menu in the sidebar, preview cards when you hover over a calculation, and a cleaner look across the project sidebar and Standards pages.
  • No more accidental blank messages in Ask Calcs: Pressing Enter on an empty message no longer sends a blank chat message.
