About this event
This is part 1 of Demystifying Loads: 2024 IBC Chapter 16 and ASCE 7-22, a seven-part series with the International Code Council (ICC). The series covers the proper evaluation of structural loads under the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and the IBC-referenced ASCE/SEI 7-22 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures. Each session gives an overview of the topic, the changes in the 2024 IBC and ASCE 7-22, and worked examples that show how the provisions apply.
This session covers load paths and load combinations used in allowable stress design and strength design, plus the risk categories assigned to buildings for load determination based on hazard to life. Join John "Buddy" Showalter, P.E. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM EDT.
All registered attendees will receive a recording of the webinar after the event.
In this webinar we'll cover
- Evaluate structural loads and associated criteria in the IBC and ASCE 7
- Identify changes to load provisions and associated criteria in the 2024 IBC and ASCE 7-22
- Apply load paths and load combinations used in allowable stress design and strength design
