Structural Engineer - Calculator Development

Innovation dies when it’s trapped in a spreadsheet.

At ClearCalcs, we free engineers to spend more time thinking and less time doing. Our cloud structural design calculators already power over 50,000 projects a year worldwide — and we’re just getting started.

If you’re a structural engineer passionate about solving real-world problems, building tools engineers love, and shaping the future of design, we want you on our team.

Your impact

  • Ship calculators fast - foundations, retaining walls, RC/steel/timber, all via our no-code calculator builder
  • Empower others — translate complex standards into intuitive, best-practice calculators.
  • Amplify impact — ship tools used by thousands, iterating from direct customer feedback.
  • Own QA – write tests, review calc outputs, and hunt edge cases to guarantee trust
  • Take radical ownership - act as product/tech lead, partnering with product, dev and customer success to sharpen every launch.
  • Find a better way - help create new workflows, tools, and AI helpers that cut design cycles from hours to seconds.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of structural design experience
  • Depth in Canadian standards like CSA A23.3 and A23.1, breadth across S16, O86, and NBCC.
  • Familiarity with US standards (ACI 318, AISC 360, NDS) is highly valued.
  • Strong exposure to connection design or HSS design is a major advantage.
  • Spreadsheet wizardry (Excel, Mathcad); Python or JS curiosity a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset — you love continuous learning.
  • Leadership or project management experience is highly regarded.
