About this event

Engineered timber specifications are often written generically. When the section size on the drawings does not match what is stocked locally, builders substitute it out or send it back to engineering for re-approval, and the project loses weeks. The result is a design you no longer control at the build stage.

This session covers how glulam and CLT are manufactured in Australia and what that means for available grades and sections, the compliance pathways for each product under the NCC and NZBC, and what actually governs mass timber design in practice. We will close with a worked GL13 example in Calcs.com showing how to select and specify stocked sections from the start.

All registered attendees will receive a recording of the webinar after the event.

In this webinar we'll cover

  • General overview of glulam and CLT compliance pathways in Australia and New Zealand, including AS/NZS 1328.1 and AS 1720.1
  • Common real-world examples and applications using Australian-made glulam (GL13) and CLT, including how to specify stocked sections that don't get substituted at the build stage
  • Worked examples using Calcs.com, plus preliminary CLT sizing guidance
